Dubbed as “Hollywood’s most covert operation” by Marie Claire magazine, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s ultra-private celeb wedding (disguised as Justin’s 44th birthday bash) was held for 70 of the famous duo’s close family and friends at their Bel Air, California, home – on a Wednesday no less!
Jen has recently spoken out to Yahoo Beauty about the very private affair. “We were determined to keep it just private and to ourselves. And the thing is, we haven’t even seen pictures.” She also revealed to Entertainment Tonight, “We had the beautiful luxury of having a beautiful, private moment. And I’m going to be selfish and keep it that way.” Add to that the fact that security was SUPER tight at the event with all guest’s phones taken off them for the duration (Hollywood’s first selfie-free event since the phrase was coined?), with the end result being – not a heap of piccies around to drool over unfortunately! BUT there are some super cute personal wedding touches to check out (including a muppet themed wedding cake!) and plenty of who’s who deets to tie you over until the offical wedding pics come out… Have at it!
- The Couple
Aniston, 46 year old ex-Friends star and all-round funny gal, and actor, director and screenwriter Theroux, best known for his work with legendary film director David Lynch (Mulholland Drive), and as screenwriter for Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2, Rock of Ages, and the upcoming Zoolander 2, met on the set of the film Wanderlust in 2011. The pair were engaged in August 2012 and wed almost 3 years to the day on Wednesday 5th August, 2015.
- The Dress
The question on everyone’s Google search bars is what gown did Jen don? After debating the merits of big guns Valentino and Versace (both of whom Aniston has worked on the red carpet in recent years), the latest speculation is that Jen’s wedding dress was revealed on US reality TV show Say Yes To The Dress, when a sales rep let it slip that an $8,400 Mark Zunino dress was Jen’s pick. However a spokesperson for the designer has told the Mail Online, ‘We can neither confirm nor deny that we designed the gown for Jennifer Aniston’s special day. We can confirm that we did do sketches of wedding dress options for her’ (see sketches below right). Hmmmmmm. Jury’s still out on that one! What we DO know is that Jen’s ring (inset) was designed by jeweller Jennifer Meyer (who’s married to actor Tobey Maguire), and featured a gold band lined in the center by diamonds.
- The Location
For the celebration, a large wooden deck was set up in the couple’s back garden, filled with cozy little spaces for lounging as well as elegant seating arrangements. Radio personality Howard Stern revealed that the couple’s pal Jimmy Kimmel officiated the nuptials and that most of the people attending thought that it was a party for Justin’s 44th birthday right up until the business end of the event. The couple reportedly hid their wedding party gear in a vacant $10.7 million mansion next door (handy!), to help keep the nuptials under wraps from guests.
- The Cake
One of the cutest details from the intimate ceremony was Jen and Justin’s playful wedding cake – made by Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes – which was topped with Muppet-like puppets portraying the bride and groom. The bakers reportedly “had no idea it was for a wedding,” a source told PEOPLE. “They didn’t know until they saw the pictures this morning.” According to a second source, the cake was vanilla and strawberry. Awwwwwww… nom-nom-nom…
- The Guests
Aniston’s best ‘Friend‘ Courteney Cox served as the maid of honour, while the groom’s pal Scott Campbell (a tattoo artist who has created a number of Theroux’s inkings and is married to actress Lake Bell of Boston Legal and New Girl fame) was the best man. Aniston’s dogs reportedly participated in the event and Sia performed her hit song Chandelier for the newlyweds’ first dance (although she apparently had a vocal malfunction mid-way through the chorus! The singer reflected on the cringe-worthy incident, “I sang at my friend’s wedding a couple of weeks ago and it was actually just laughable,’ said Sia on air with NOVA FM’s Fitzy and Wippa). Other celeb guests at the wedding included Jason Bateman, Sandra Bullock, Rachel McAdams, Tobey McGuire, Samantha Ronson, Orlando Bloom, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, and Emily Blunt. Courteney Cox was apparently the last to leave the event, partying with the couple until 3am.
And that’s a wrap! We can’t wait to see ‘the dress’ sometime soon!
